TOKYO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday as investors bought issues on dips following share prices here markedly retreating after a recent global equities rout.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 216.77 points, or 1.00 percent, from Wednesday to 21,862.14.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 18.46 points, or 1.05 percent, to 1,768.37.

Precision instrument, transportation equipment and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
