BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Ignacio Ramirez converted a late penalty to earn Newell's Old Boys a 1-1 draw at Deportivo Riestra in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Monday.

Nicolas Banegas put the hosts ahead in the 35th minute by pouncing on a bungled clearance and lashing a low-first time drive past goalkeeper Gabriel Arias.

Ramirez equalized five minutes from time after Matias Garcia clattered into Armando Mendez during an aerial duel.

The result at Guillermo Laza Stadium leaves Deportivo Riestra 14th in the 15-team Group A, ahead of last-placed Newell's on goal difference.

Both teams have yet to register a victory in five games so far this campaign. ■
