MOSCOW, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- A Russian official on Thursday said that the United States has a dual stance on the Ukrainian crisis as it simultaneously supplies weapons to the Ukrainian forces while making efforts to find options to resolve the crisis.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement that the United States managed to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table is incorrect, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Zakharova was commenting on Rubio's remarks on Sunday at the Munich Security Conference that the United States is "in a unique position as the only nation in the world that has managed to bring representatives of Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table."

"To claim that only the United States managed to 'seat Russia and Ukraine at the negotiating table' is at the very least incorrect," Zakharova said.

She added that many countries are facilitating a peaceful settlement, including Belarus and Turkey, which have helped organize negotiations since the very beginning of the war.

"If one sincerely wishes to act as a mediator, they should cease military support for one of the parties to the conflict. Only then can diplomacy yield results," she said. ■
