SOFIA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China won three gold medals on Sunday afternoon at the 2018 Seamaster ITTF World Tour Asarel Bulgaria Open, which was held in the town of Panagyurishte.

Xu Xin won the men's singles gold after beating Kenta Matsudaira of Japan 4-1 (12-10, 10-12, 11-8, 11-6, 11-4).

Earlier on Sunday, Xu grabbed the men's doubles title together with the Olympic and world champion Ma Long, overcoming Masataka Morizono and Yuya Oshima of Japan 3-1 (9-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-6).

China's third gold medal went to another Olympic and world champion, Ding Ning, who defeated her compatriot Wang Yidi 4-3 (11-7, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-2) in women's singles final.

Kasumi Ishikawa and Mima Ito of Japan won the title in the women's doubles event. At the final, they beat Chinese qualifiers Liu Gaoyang and Zhang Rui 3-1 (10-12, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6).

"The desire to win today was greater than before especially after winning the Australian Open previously and getting my confidence up. My coach and all the leaders in the team have been encouraging me and I am very thankful for them," Xu said after the award ceremony.

"I am very happy to win my first world tour title this year in Bulgaria," Ding said in turn. "Both the fans and the atmosphere in the venue really made it an memorable experience for me," she added.

The six-day competition brought together 276 athletes from 43 countries and regions.
