KATHMANDU, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The traditional Chinese Chan Tea musical concert was organized in Nepal for the first time on Thursday evening.

Hundreds of people from different walks of life took the seats in the auditorium of Nepal Academy in Kathmandu to indulge themselves into the spectacular musical evening. Nepal Academy Chancellor Ganga Prasad Upreti also participated in the concert.

The concert was organized by Boshan Zhengjue Monastery of China and presented by Zhengjue Cultural Development Center and Byoma Buddhadharma Sangha of Nepal.

The event started with the traditional Nepali dance and the captivated mantra performance by Nepali nun-singer Ani Choying Dromla, who has already performed across the world.

The musical concert featured 19 performances in total, which were divided into spring, summer, autumn and winter sessions. Chinese artists used tea ceremony, music, opera, dance and drama to express the features of Chan Tea art and meditation.

According to the organizers, Chan Tea has a history of over 1000 years which comprises meditation along with preaching of Lord Buddha. The hosts termed the Chan Tea as a unique culture which carries the essence of Buddhism.

As over a dozen tea-makers were making tea live on the stage, the audiences were asked to feel the color, fragrance and beauty, turning the auditorium into a meditation hall.

The two-hour long show was highly praised by the Nepali audiences.

"I didn't know that Chinese Chan tea is also related with meditation. The concert has revived some energy on all of us. I am very glad to have experienced it," 63-year-old Professor Krishna Kashyap told Xinhua.
