YANGON, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Win Myint on Tuesday called on the country people to give more cooperation and assistance to the government's efforts for domestic peace, the establishment of the democratic federal union and development.

Speaking on the occasion of the new year 2019, U Win Myint expressed his belief that Myanmar will be able to meet and overcome the difficulties and crisis facing the country by holding on to truth and justice.

Informing the country people that the government has been working with unceasing vigilance and unflagging zeal for the fruition of national interest of the country, the president conveyed glad tidings that from the new year forth and in the coming years, there will be more good opportunities in the political, economic and social sectors.

He assured that the government will strive with earnestness to realize peace and prosperity in the country in the future and for the tranquility and happiness of the country people, hoping that the people will join the government on its federal democratic journey with energy and high spirit.

First Vice President U Myint Swe, in his similar message, hoped that all union citizens will realize their aspiration for peace and national reconciliation at the soonest and that their socio-economic life will be elevated from all aspects.

For his part, Second Vice President U Henry Van Thio urged to turn the challenges and difficulties into opportunities and solve domestic problems in unity with collective strength based on union spirit.
