WUHAN, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The construction of electricity supply system for the 7th Military World Games has been promoted to meet the highest standard set by the Beijing Olympic Games, with some artificial intelligence, as well as big data, being introduced to ensure stable and capable wires into the venues and hotels during the Games.

Zhu Tao, deputy general manager of the State Grid Wuhan Company told a press conference here on Thursday that 890 sub-projects have been started, and 334 have been completed.

"The constructions are as a chance to promote our 'web of things' proposed by the State Grid. We use big data, artificial intelligence and other technologies, even robots, to free our employees from labor-intensive duties, so that they can be engaged in diagnosis and analysis," Zhu said.

Zhu said that the electricity supply system was quite "large and difficult" to build, considering the scattered distribution of venues and hotels of the Games in the city.

"The project covers 35 stadiums and 107 hotels involving 136 power substations, and 854 power distribution rooms. This will be the first time in history to hold all sports events of Military World Games within one city. Although we have learnt from Beijing Olympic Games, it's more like crossing the river by touching the stones," Zhu said.

The local provincial and municipal power supply departments have gathered a group of specialists to evaluate the system and solve any problem that may lead to power supply failures.

Slated for Oct. 18-27, 2019 in Central China's Wuhan city, the 7th Military World Games is set to welcome over 10,000 athletes and officials from 105 countries and regions.
