WELLINGTON, May 31 (Xinhua) -- A new in-flight biosecurity video will remind international visitors about the importance of protecting New Zealand from unwanted pests and diseases, with a special mandarin version for Chinese airlines, according to Biosecurity New Zealand on Friday.

Biosecurity New Zealand launched the video this week that will play for arriving passengers on all airlines with screen capacity.

Head of Biosecurity New Zealand, Roger Smith, said in a statement that all visitors to the country and Kiwis returning home can help protect New Zealand from harmful pests and diseases.

Things like the Queensland fruit fly and brown marmorated stink bug have the potential to cause significant damage to New Zealand's primary sector and environment, he said.

Smith said he is pleased the majority of airlines that fly into the country have agreed to play the video.

The new in-flight biosecurity video has been translated into 12 different languages. The video is part of a wider Biosecurity New Zealand program focused on protecting the country, he added.
